Building Permits
The Comunity Fire Protection District utilizes an online one-stop shop for information and services related to construction and permits. The District has moved to an all-digital application and plan review platform. This means that we no longer accept paper plan submittals. All building and permit submittals must be done in digital format via the SmartGov Customer Portal.
The fire marshal’s office reviews all applications to ensure compliance with construction standards and protection of public health and safety, assisting the applicant throughout the entire process from application to closeout. You can track your permit from application all the way to final inspection. Once the permit process is complete, you can pay and print it right from your home or office.
What can I do in the Customer Portal?
Apply for building and related permits
Track the status of applications
*Pay permit fees securely online with credit card or electronic check
Request and review inspection results
Download approved permits and approved documents
Access current and past permit records for specific properties
Search for parcel information
The Community Fire Protection District requires permit applications be completed, submitted, and approved for any commercial construction project. The District does not require occupancy or building permits for one and two family dwellings.
Life Safety Codes & Standards
The Community Fire Protection District has adopted the 2021 International Building Code (IBC, 2021 ed.), 2021 International Existing Building Code (IEBC, 2021 ed.), 2021 International Fire Code (IFC, 2021 ed.), and related NFPA standards. The Fire Marshal’s office utilizes these code requirements during both the plan review and inspection process.
A copy of our adopted ordinances with amendments can be found at the below link.
Plan Reviews
The Fire Marshal’s Division performs plan review and inspection of new construction and remodels, fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and other fire protection systems to prevent fire and/or fire spread. Plan reviews must be approved and permits issued before beginning any work. Once plan review is complete and all applicable fees have been paid, contractors may begin work.
